Compere Magazine Issue July 2014

The July issue for Compere is out and ready for you.  This issue was a joy to prepare as some of my favourite desserts was showcased in it; and I felt a need to put a voice out there on encouraging families to build positive relationships.  Lately, the debate on the best way to discipline children has surface because of the recent videos posted on social networks showing parents disciplining their children.    I wish not to join the debate here on that topic, but I felt that there was definitely a need for families to connect in a positive manner.   Family is important as it shapes who we are and to some degree determines our destiny.  Now, what does that have to do with dessert?

Well, I say a lot.  Food is what also connects families.  Food can be used to help bring families together.  A mother shares her favouite recipe with her daughter, her daughter cooks for the family to show them how much she loves them, a son watches his father cook and is proud of his expression in food… I can go on and on.   The experiences in cooking are great.   Food encourages conversation  and exposes the love people have for each other.  There is no denying, try it.  Invite your family to a dinner or brunch, invite your teenager's friends over for dinner,  and you will see connections being formed that could last a lifetime.

So, this month's magazine is all about connecting with tasty foods, more desserts (this time).  Simple to make desserts.  The magazine also includes articles on health and eating, a cartoon and activity corner for kids (the activity is printable), some cooking tips and interior decorating tips.   It also has three recipes ( a featured recipe and exclusive recipes).   The picture of the magazine cover below shows two of these recipes.  So download your magazine today, as these recipes will not appear on Simply Trini Cooking until a few months have passed (I can't say when exactly).
